Fenton Area Paddlers Schedule
Fenton Area Paddlers Partial Summer 2009 Schedule
We will be paddling locally every Wednesday evening at 6:15 starting May 6 and continuing through September. Our goal is to pick places where we can launch and take out at the same place without having to spot cars. Because we will always return to our starting point you can join us even if you cannot make the 6:15 start time. We will have a late snack at local spots when we return. Each paddle will be 1.5 – 2+ hours in length.
Our weekend paddles will alternate between Sunday and Saturday. Below are the scheduled paddles and other related activities. If the weather is questionable, the paddle will be cancelled. For more information call Maggie 810-735-9570.

Nearly Full Moon Kayaking/camping weekend
August 7th – 10th will be a nearly full moon kayaking and camping weekend at Pickney Recreation Bruin Lake campground. Reservations have already been made for the cabin by the lake. Tent and camper campsites are nearby. This is a great location for boating, swimming, bike riding and just relaxing. Bruin Lake connects to a chain of seven lakes for endless paddling. If you get tired of kayaking there are many restaurants and shopping opportunities in the area.
The cabin is 14’ X 20’ and sleeps six. One bedroom has bunk beds and the other has a full size bed. The living room has a futon for sleeping. There is electricity and comes with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. A huge porch surrounds the cabin. Restrooms are in the bathhouse 200 feet away. A space in the cabin is $15 per night. Persons reserving all three nights get priority. If you want the full bed or futon by yourself you must pay $30 per night. Three spaces in the cabin are already taken. Call Maggie 810-735-9570 to book a space.
The reservation is for Friday, August 7 until Monday, August 10. You can reserve a campsite at the campground by going to www.michigan.gov/dnr and following the links to campground reservations. Spaces closet to the cabin are 175, 176 & 177. Check in is 3:00 and checkout is 1:00.
This is a very flexible weekend. The campground was chosen for its closeness and paddling accessibility. (No need to spot vehicles) Come any combination of days and nights, you choose what is best for your schedule even if it is just a day of paddling. Boat rentals are available and I will bring extra kayaks. We will have pot lucks and group paddles on Saturday and Sunday.
RSVP to Maggie at yerantmag@yahoo.com or 810-735-9570.
