BYC Cocktail Cruising Race with the 2009 Mackinac Fleet

1. Participating yachts must be at least 27 feet and have an inboard engine, a head, a galley and sleeping quarters.
2. Motoring is allowed during the race.
However, motoring is in one hour segments. For each hour or less you are to add an additional hour to
your arrival time.
Example 1 = If you motor for 3 hours 20 minutes, you add 4 hours to your arrival time.
Example 2 = If you motor for 20 minutes then later for 40 minutes, you add 2 hours to your arrival time.
3. Keep a detailed log (engine on/off times).
4. Login
every night with the Race Chairman prior to 9:00 pm (2100 hours). Channel 71. Providing the following:
a. Sail number, boat name, cell phone number.
b. Arrival time at specified Lat/Lon. (Using Official US Time from the GPS).
c. Time motoring which will be added to the arrival time. Report each motoring segment. See Table B in the SI’s
5. Daily results MAY be posted on the Internet or announced the next morning at 0700 hour checkin
time.
a. Each day will be scored separately.
b. The final results will be scored as a series with 4 races using a low point scoring system.
6. DRYA ratings will be used. If you do not have a rating, we will get you a PJAM rating for this race.
Spinnakers, stay sails etc. are optional. Use whatever you sail with when cruising.
7. If towing a dingy, you will get a + 3 second credit for a hard bottom dingy
or a + 9 seconds if it is a soft bottom (no floorboard) dingy.
8. BYC Mackinac equipment requirements do not apply. You must be US Coast Guard Approved.
9. All boats are to monitor Channel 71 as the communication channel.
10. Entry fee $100 (approximately 50% tax deductable). Used for battle flags, and other awards.
