Holiday Magic Parade

The 9th Annual Holiday Magic Parade and 2nd Annual Santa Scamper (Fun Run) is coming to Downtown Royal Oak on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10am. This event, which is officially known as Santa's First Stop in Metro Detroit, is made possible by the numerous sponsors and volunteers who are committed to making the city shine through this high impact, musical and uniquely Royal Oak event!
The Santa Scamper, now in it's 2nd year, is a children fun-run and is an opportunity to run the parade route before the parade. Proceeds benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
Participants will receive a santa hat and free hot chocolate following the race.

MSDA Monthly Dance
Michigan Swing Dance Association

Every month, the MSDA holds a kick-ass dance, usually on the third Sunday. Our dance is held at the gorgeous Rhythm -n- Shoes Ballroom Dance Studio in Bloomfield Hills. There are lessons at 3 PM and a dance party from 4 to 8 PM. The music is California Mix with East and West Coast Swing, Hustle, Ballroom, Latin and Country and our DJ, Phil Dorroll, takes requests. We throw in a Speed Dating Dance and a Newcomer Mixer just to change things up a bit. A light meal is served, as well as snacks, soft drinks and cake, plus we give away door prizes to people whose tickets are drawn.
For members, the dance is $9 and the lesson is free. For non-members, the lesson is $4 and the dance is $11. If you join the club at the dance, you save $6.

The MSDA dances are attended by couple and singles alike. For the most part, our members are single and we are always happy to see new members join. The MSDA is like a big, friendly family and we are very comfortable asking each other to dance. In other words, men ask women and women ask men. That's our format. If you have never been to an MSDA dance, your first visit is FREE!!

The Royal Oak Woman's Club (ROWC) will hold its annual Holiday Tea at its clubhouse. This Tea will honor all ROWC past presidents and current area club presidents. Entertainment will feature Kerry Price playing the piano and leading the group in "An Old Fashioned Christmas Sing Along". The General Meeting will begin at 12:45 pm with the program following at 1:15 pm. After the sing-a-long, members and guests will proceed downstairs to a lovely holiday tea.
