Dear Peggy Jo, I have read your articles on hand washing ,and even though I get strange looks in the men's room, I do sing "Happy Birthday" twice while washing my hands. Recently I was at dinner in a new upscale restaurant in Royal Oak with an elegant lady who asked for a straw for her water. When the waitress returned, she plunked the unwrapped straw into her glass holding it by the end that would be used to sip. I called the waitress back and asked her for a wrapped straw. She replied that they did not have any. I called her attention to the boorish manner that she used to deliver the first straw and she amusingly replied that we ought to see how they are stored in the kitchen. She did deliver another straw which she carried in a napkin and placed upon the table. Hand washing is very important and so is the many other cleanliness methods to avoid the passing of flu and cold germs. All restaurants should be required to deliver wrapped straws.
