Fly the American Flag on 9/11
We all vividly remember where we were and how we felt on 9/11---wouldn't it be awesome to see this outburst of patriotism put into action again by as many people as possible---just showing the unification of hearts that remember---on this 8th anniversary!

We have a little less than a week and counting to get the word out all across this great land and into every community in the United States of America. THE PROGRAM:
On Friday, September 11th, 2009, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, store and vehicle in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this eighth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.
In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds
Action Plan:
So, here's what we need you to do:
Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

Peach Festival Festivals and Community Events
This event spans the period from 2009-09-02 to 2009-09-07 The five-day festival includes an art exhibit, crafts shows, children’s day in the park, numerous family activities, nightly entertainment, amusement rides, delicious food, Harley-Davidson raffle, multiple parades, 5k run, antique car show, bike night, semi-pro wrestling, baby photo contest, Texas Hold’Em tournament, beers around the world tent, annual used book sale, peach pie stations, fly-in breakfast and end of summer sales at many local merchants.
Throughout the entire weekend visitors can enjoy many varieties of food such as BBQ specialties, pulled pork dinners and sandwiches, spaghetti dinners, ice cream stands, steak dinners, farmers breakfast and of course peach pie, peach cobbler, peach ice-cream, peach tea and many more peachy treats. This event spans the period from 2009-09-04 to 2009-09-07 Arts, Beats & Eats is excited to add to its name, mission and purpose in 2009. We are now Arts, Beats & Eats - Festival of Hope and we are excited to announce new changes and partners for the 2009 festival.
Arts, Beats & Eats will still feature The HealthPlus Art Fair, one of the top art shows in the US, incredible food, more than 125 bands on six stages, and dynamic and interactive fun for the kids. Here are the changes in store for this year:
ADMISSION FEE: We do have to charge a small fee to make up for lost sponsorship revenue. It will be a $2 per person donation, and the fee will be split with local non-profits. To provide our guests with additional value for the $2, we are doing the following: During the first three hours of the festival on Saturday, Sunday and Monday all paid kids admissions will come with a free carnival ride or fun inflatable, and all paid adult admissions (over 21) will come with a free bottle of water, courtesy of Pepsi. The festival will also be free of charge for all guests on Friday with Local Four Free Friday until 6pm.
IMPORTANT REVENUE FOR LOCAL CHARITIES: We are partnering with thirteen local charities that will accept donations at nine festival entry points. All admission fees will be split between the Arts, Beats & Eats Foundation to support festival expenses and the non-profit partners. For a list of charities click here:
VALUE TO OUR GUESTS: We sell our food and beverages in tickets at 16 tickets for $10. We will be lowering our non-alcoholic drink costs to four tickets down from five, and keeping beer at the same cost of 8 tickets for a 16 oz beer. Idle Hour Yacht Club has a variety of facilities: rest rooms, showers, picnic tables, grills next to the boats, horse shoes, volley ball , basketball court. Inside the club house is eating area for 200 people, you can also play cards and games on inside tables, food is served, and a full bar( drinks are moderating priced). Also available to us are billiards, shuffle board, and TV's.
Activities: Saturday:
- Music and dancing (at no charge to us, it is provided by the yacht club)
- We will have Euchre, and other cards games
- a nature walk( bring your camera),
- a hot dog roast – bring your own!
- Stargazing and Full Moon - it is wonderful when you get away from city lights.
Sunday:
- Idle Hour is having a Dinghy Poker Run at 1:00 (registration in the morning). Your dinghy may be any size boat.
- Lunch will be available at the Tiki Bar (cash), Even if you don't participate in the Dinghy Run it is fun to sit and watch.
- We will have table games at the picnic tables or inside (the club house is always open to us.)
- We hope at least one of our Captains will bring a dinghy to represent the club, so we can cheer him on!

Other Acitivities: the town San Souci is a short distance away where you will find shopping (if you want to buy nautical this is the place), a wonderful bar and grill (on the patio you may get to see a freighter go by) and the Middle Channel Golf Course (Public).

WED 2009-09-09 Paddling locally every Wednesday evening at 6:15 starting May 6 and continuing through September. Our goal is to pick places where we can launch and take out at the same place without having to spot cars. Because we will always return to our starting point you can join us even if you cannot make the 6:15 start time. We will have a late snack at local spots when we return. Each paddle will be 1.5 to 2 hours in length.
