A Different kind of Mackinac Race!!!
If you are interested in getting to the North Channel for cruising and sailing with the Mackinac Fleet, this may be of interest.
BYC has
approved a start for a point-to-point race to Rogers City for TRUE
CRUSING BOATS.
No need to sail all night. No need to sail in
extremely bad weather. No need to sit with no wind. No need to sail a
stripped boat. You can even tow a dingy.
The race would start with the
Mackinac Fleet (first start July 25, 2009). This would have all racers
mooring each evening for cocktails, dinner and a good night’s sleep. The
race would continue the next morning. The race will finish in Rogers
City with an informal picnic awards & cocktail party. Official BYC
Mackinac Awards are to be presented at the BYC awards party in the Fall More information here.

Know your scriptures
Acts 2:38 A woman had just returned to her home from an evening of church services , when she was startled by an intruder. She caught the man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables and yelled: 'Stop! Acts 2:38!' (Repent and be Baptized, in the name of Jesus Christ , so that your sins may be forgiven.) The burglar stopped in his tracks. The woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done. As the officer cuffed the man to take him in, he asked the burglar: 'Why did you just stand there? All the old lady did was yell a scripture to you.' 'Scripture?' replied the burglar. 'She said she had an Ax and Two 38s!'
Send this to someone who needs a laugh today and remember: Knowing scripture can save your life - in more ways than one!

This is still getting many people to click each week so we are keeping it in. Let us know if you think it is worth while.
Betty is now famous because she is appearing in the "Got Mustard Campaign" She is also famous for volunteering to submit her photo via email. Betty is a resident of Flint, an avid skier and golfer.
So when you see or contact Betty be sure to tell her you've seen her in the "Got Mustard" campaign. You can see the other hundreds of people by clicking on the underlined words above.
So many people have volunteered to participate that we have found it necessary to change the way the slide show runs so that people can browse rather than wait to see their photo with the "digital mustard" on their upper lip. One can replace the phrase in the section box with their first name and deleting any other text in the box. Then only the slides that contain that name are displayed.
If you had your photo taken and can't find it in the slide show please send us an email. If you would like to send a photo to be included, send it to webmaster@peggyjostudio.com. We will supply the "digital mustard".
Congratulations Betty!

I wanted to let you know that I decided to attend the [club name withheld to avoid embarrassment]
I went by myself, which is not usually a big deal for me. When I arrived about 8ish, the women at the 'sign in' table were---let's just say not that "friendly" or welcoming---I did mention this was my first meeting and I started asking a few ?? and was told to sit and listen to the meeting and I may get my answers.
OK, so I walked around, said HI to a few folks and wandered over to get a cocktail. I thought to myself, OK I'll stick this out and see what happens. I wandered around more smiling and saying HI, but most folks were talking to each other, of course because they all know each other. Not a problem, so when the meeting was to begin, I sat at a table with some people, one man and 2 other women. I introduced myself and when the meeting concluded I sat, and I sat, not one word or any attempt to start a conversation. So again, I got up and wandered around the room some more, smiling and hoping to get to meet some new friends---but I'm sad to report that everyone seemed pretty content with just socializing with those friends they already know from the club. Not quite sure if it was because it was a Valentines Dance and most of the folks there were already there as couples, or what exactly. Anyway, I wanted you to know about my experience. I went with a totally open mind, but was really hoping to meet/make a few new friends and, more importantly, find out about the upcoming season and things the club had planned.
So, keep up all your great work with your website --- I find the event lists you provide helpful.
I was looking for you at the meeting so I could get the 'scoop' on the Charley's Mustard and "Got Mustard" postings. I was curious what that was all about?? I left by 9:30, so I might have missed you! PEACE... Deborah Royal Oak
[Editor's note the above email was edited to disguise the identity of the club.]
Dear D, I'm so sorry about your experience. Please come again and (if you let me know beforehand) I will be sure to meet you and introduce you to people. ----or alert someone there to connect with you if I'm unable to make it. Peggy Jo
Hi Peggy Jo
we really enjoy your newsletter and appreciate your coverage of DRYA events.
The Weds. CPR class is closed, but we have one the next evening that people may join. The details are posted on our site.
Thanks

[Editors Note: This refers to the CPR class held on Feb. 18, 2009]
Dear Peggy Jo,
I was pleased to see so many people show up at Jan Bassil's funeral service even though the venue was changed at the last minute. The clubs that you support in your newsletter are like extended family..
Jan was diagnosed with Cancer back in 2006 and was given only four months to live. Because she was her mother's caregiver, she had to find a place for her mother before she could start taking care of herself. She fought the good fight until Monday February 16, 2009.
I know it's still over a month away, and it's hard for singles (especially) to ca-ca-ca-ca-comit, but I would appreciate it if you could start noting this year's Victory Party in the Comming Events section of you letter. And I hope YOU come again:
1. Victory Party III: A Spring Fever Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 21st, 2009. For the third year in a row, we're doing it again. This is a chance for you to meet old friends, and make new ones, enjoy great music, dance, and have fun - all for a good cause. Those of you who came the last two years remember how much fun this is, and you felt good at the same time, knowing that all proceeds go to our American Cancer Society Relay for Life team's fundraising effort. Bring your date, or come alone and meet someone new there. start at 7:00 and end at 1:00 at Barnstormer Banquet Center (9411 E M-36, Whitmore Lake, MI). We'll have two ballrooms, with a DJ in one, and a live band in the other; it's like two great parties under one roof, and you can mingle between the two all evening long. Help us blow the top of our efforts the last two years, and buy your tickets early: $20 in advance, or $30 at-the-door so don't wait. Get your tickets on line at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=14419&team_id=400293 (click the Donate link then click on Enter an Amount equal to $20 per ticket, One Time Gift, your name (or simply Victory Party in the Recognition Name field, and finally, a note to me telling me your name, email, and number of tickets you bought. The rest is simple). Or mail your check, payable to The American Cancer Society, to PO Box158, Hamburg, MI 48139. Questions? Call Joe at 810-923-1567
Thanks. . .Joe
